The services is for anyone of 18 years and upward and with the housing it's from 16 years and up so might have younger people that perhaps need some support to find their own independent accommodation so we can help them with that from 16 years and upwards.
We have Partners working with us we've got Mencap for learning disabilities mind to help people with mental health issues Adferiad that help with unpaid carers and then we've got Age Cymru Dyfed as well and they look after the older people and also people with physical disabilities as well.
It might just be someone that wants to join an art group and we can let them know about the groups that are available in their areas we can identify them might be something as simple as that or it might be something much more complex perhaps someone is caring for an elderly relative on a daily basis and they just need some rest bite care.
We are trying to cover the whole of Carmarthenshire West & North so our job is to be present within the community to try and find the people that need the support. Our Community Gateway officers will have that well-being conversation find out what information they need and what support they need and then take it from there and hopefully we can help them find the activities that they're looking for really to help them with their daily lives.
You know with this service we are aiming to connect communities connect people together make them aware of what's going on in their local areas so that they can join the groups that they're looking for.
A lot of people took to their homes during Covid and haven't come out perhaps as much as they were prior to covid ultimately the goal is to prevent them from having to access statutory services so if we can help in any way with that with enriching their lives and improving their well-being then you know we've succeeded.
We've got a couple of really good success stories one of them is based in a residential home so we went in and we've now started an art group which we've helped facilitate and now we've got a group of 11 people that will be going on a weekly basis they'll be going out for lunch then they'll be taking part in a light exercise class followed by tea and coffee and just socialization together we know that we're doing good and we're helping them.
All we are is facilitators really we're not providing that direct support but we're just organizing it so that it then carries on as well when we've gone we want these groups to continue and that is such a rewarding thing.
