Alex may have joined the team three months ago but she has been a firm supporter and participant almost since the Network’s inception: First of all as part of the whole network, then the growers network, and finally as part of the steering group. She sports a varied and insightful background in horticulture with a RHS Level 2 Diploma, licenses for both a tractor and a chainsaw!
The next few months will see a number of developments with growing and cooking projects as well as a host of collaborative events taking place eg. LocalMotion, CFN and Cegyn Hedyn.
The Carmarthenshire Food Network has an integral role to play across the county and will continue to support its citizens as the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact us all. It also shares the program intentions of Connecting Carmarthenshire: promoting active lives and social connections; supporting physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing and working with what we do well. There are a plethora of opportunities for coproduction and the Network looks forward to working within Carmarthenshire communities to support citizens to empower themselves.
“Alex has community resilience trilled into her everyday work plan and it is exciting to see how the various projects come to life over the next few months”, enthuses Jamie Horton, Community Volunteering Development Officer and founder of the Network. “There may be some volunteering opportunities, community events and activities as well as project design for Connecting Carmarthenshire to refer their citizen’s to the Network. Carmarthenshire is making the most of its assets and its greatest assets are by far its people”.
