Age Cymru Dyfed operates across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, supporting individuals over 50 to maintain their independence and make the most of later life. We do this through a range of services across the three counties. Please note that the delivery of some of our services has been adapted in line with Welsh Government guidelines - details of which are included below.
Information and advice
We provide information and advice that covers every facet of later life, including finances, wellbeing, health and lifestyle. We offer a range of useful information and advice to help manage daily living, from how to access community care to advice on maximising your income.
We offer free benefits checks to help older people understand and claim the benefits they're entitled to, such as Carer's Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit. We also have a range of resources and factsheets available that we can send to individuals, and are able to support individuals access appropriate, more specialised support if needed. Support is currently being offered via telephone, video calls or email in line with the Welsh Government Covid-19 guidelines.

Digital support
Our Digital Champions support people over 50 to make the most of technology. We support individuals to set up and use devices, whether that be to do on line shopping or video call friends and family.
Support is currently provided through sessions over the phone in line with Welsh Government Covid-19 guidelines, guiding individuals through the tasks they want to achieve.

Advocacy
Our advocates work with individuals help them express their views, be heard and ensure their rights are upheld. It can be frustrating when you don't feel listened to; our advocates understand this and offer non-judgemental, person-centred support.
We listen to individuals views and concerns, explore options and rights and can support them in contacting relevant people, or do so on their behalf. We are also now commissioned by Carmarthenshire County Council to provide advocacy for adults. Our support is currently being offered via telephone, video call or email in line with Welsh Government Covid-19 guidelines.

Befriending Life Links
Our Befriending Life Links project aims to reduce loneliness and isolation for individuals over 50 through friendship, social connections and support in getting out and about. This can include, but not limited to, one-to-one befriending to build confidence, home visits, accompanying individuals to attend groups and activities or go shopping. The project aims to support individuals to do the things they enjoy, build confidence, promote independence and reconnect them with their communities.
In line with Welsh Government guidelines, we are offering this service over the phone or via Zoom, and are also running online groups and activities to help bring people together and lift spirits at this difficult time.

Byw Adref Home Cleaning
Our Byw Adref home support is an award winning service within Ceredigion and North Pembrokeshire, which is expanding into Carmarthenshire. We offer help with household chores, laundry, ironing, shopping and dog walking, as well as someone to chat to. This is a paid for, tailored service which strives to enhance the quality of life for older people.

Veterans Support
We provide a range of services that help older veterans stay independent for as long as possible in their own homes.
'Veterans Should Not Be Forgotten' offers Information and Advice to veterans and their families or carers as well as practical services and digital support. We also enable older veterans to share their experiences of servicing in the Armed Forces through our pioneering 'West Wales Veterans Archive'.
Accounts are publicly accessible and will be a valuable and sustainable learning resource. We are proud to be a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant and also a member of the Confederation of Service Charities.

Handyperson and Gardening
Our handy person volunteers will carry out minor home repair jobs. A small fee is payable for this service. The kind of jobs we can help with include putting up shelving, taking down or putting up curtains, changing tap washers, assembling flat packed furniture. We also offer free home energy checks for people who are finding it difficult to keep their homes warm.
Our Gardening Service is a one-off visit by a supervised team from the Probation Service to tidy up overgrown gardens.
This is a charged for service. The Community team will supply their own equipment and return your garden to a manageable state. This. scheme is available for people 65+; it's also available for people SO+ and registered on Personal Independence Payment.
