Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service: Keeping you Safe
As a Service, we work closely with our community and partners to make Mid & West Wales a safer place to live, work and visit. In conjunction with the work we do with young people, visiting schools and carrying out Safe and Well visits, we are also responsible for enforcing fire safety legislations.
Our work within our communities is delivered by our Business Fire Safety and Community Safety Departments
Business Fire Safety
Our Business Fire Safety department is responsible for providing advice and direction to all business owners, employers or owners of business premises to ensure legal obligations are met in preventing fire to protect businesses, employees, properties, the general public and firefighters who might attend an incident.
Community Safety
Our Community Safety department work to ensure people stay safe as possible from fire and other emergencies in the home, at work or elsewhere in our area. We do this by educating both adults and young people to potential hazards and how they can protect themselves and their families from harm.
Safe and Well Visits
We have been visiting domestic properties delivering home fire safety information, and fitting smoke alarms for many years. We are now at a point where we want to do more for our communities and during 2018 we began delivering Safe and Well Visits.
A Safe and Well Visit includes all the contents of the home fire safety checks but will also include other safety messages that may be relevant to the people living in the property. The five main additional topics will cover are:
- Smoking cessation
- Home security
- Falls prevention
- Scamming awareness
- Tackling loneliness and isolation
- With the potential for further subjects to be added over time.
If you would like some more advice call us on 0800 169 1234 to talk about the possibility of a Safe and Well Visit by Fire and Rescue Service personnel. If you have a defective alarm which was installed by the Fire and Rescue Service, please contact 0800 169 1234 for a replacement or email saw@mawwfire.gov.uk
The provision of smoke alarms and other home safety items by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is supported by funding from Welsh Government.
